What is a Gnostic Messenger?
Imagine No Religion: Consciousness Creates Reality
THE MESSENGER
YOU ARE ETERNAL CONSCIOUSNESS in human form. Your spirit is an infinite state of consciousness that knows it is far more than the individuated, temporary, mortal self you are currently experiencing. Through its wider focus/perceptual aperture, your spirit knows it is connected to everything in existence.
Spiritual awakening/enlightenment is to become aware of the wider state of consciousness known as your spirit, higher self, soul, or wider self. To become conscious of your spirit is to taste its infinite nature. To be fully conscious of your spirit is to be your spirit. This is to open yourself beyond your individuality to connect into the collective ocean of consciousness (the wider reality) from which we all emerge. Opening yourself to these unfiltered experiences will change you more than years of studying spiritual knowledge. To taste your infinite nature is to light a fire within that reflects a desire for more — a passion for the exploration of consciousness.
The wider reality is:
- subjective and personal, rather than objective and impersonal.
- transparent and reflective, rather than opaque and absorbent.
- multidimensional and infinite, rather than singular and finite.
- unknown, unconscious, and forgotten, rather than known, conscious, and remembered.
- whole, rather than perceptually fragmented and polarized.
- the one, rather than the many.
- the emptiness from which fullness emerges.
- effortless allowance, rather than resistance full of effort.
- flowing and free, rather than stuck and limited.
- undefined/unfocused, rather than defined/focused.
- the timeless state from which all time emerges.
- eternal, rather than temporary/mortal.
We cannot describe our experiences in the wider reality in the same way we cannot encapsulate the feeling of love in words. Physical embodiment/individuality/the human experience is immediate. It immerses consciousness in a way that means you must experience it for yourself. The mortal experience is indescribable to the immortal, and the immortal experience is indescribable to mortals.
the divide between wider consciousness and its embodiments is the primary separation from which all experiences of duality emerge.
Just as we cannot remember being spirit without becoming spirit, so spirit cannot fully remember what mortality is like without becoming mortal. They differ in that spirit can better observe the opposing experience. However, to observe the human experience is not to have the human experience — just as to read an autobiography is not to have lived the life it describes. But just as reading books is its own unique experience of imaginative pleasure, so do many forms of consciousness exist to observe the human experience and be changed by it. Their perspective on us is unique and evolves them uniquely. Life on Earth creates life at other levels of reality/consciousness in ways beyond our comprehension.
In terms of spiritual teaching, trying to talk about the wider reality is attempting to describe the indescribable. This is why I describe how to experience it for yourself. Because of how our minds perceive and interpret reality in a linear fashion, this indescribability manifests as…
how you perceive the wider reality can only ever be a choice.
The wider reality is so mind-blowingly vast that we can only handle the briefest of flashes while in the tight focus of embodiment. In that moment of beholding the infinite, you see everything (‘The All’), but you only experience the result of your human focus (which is narrow and limited in time and space). The marvelous, magical miracle of reality-creation is that your focus on being an individual navigating reality looking for resonant experiences, expresses your intentions as a physical, temporal reality. Reality is the manifestation of your intention ‘to be.’ Consequently, it a mirror of that intention. At the heart of all intentions is the desire of consciousness to know itself (because there is nothing else in existence). It does this by creating reflections of itself in dimension-creating mirrors, such as the time-space mirror of humanity.
“marvelous, magical mirror, reflect me as a human life!”
We are the one consciousness seeking to know itself. Although this starts with seeking to know our mortal reflection, it leads to seeking to know the wider reality from which it emerges. As explorers of consciousness, our intention is the result of this universal process. This leads us to seek to know the wider reality. However, when we look at the wider reality we do not see ‘what it is’ because it is too vast and reflective. Instead, we see ‘what we are looking to see.’ This is always be found because ‘there’ is infinite and contains everything we could ever imagine.
To look in the infinite mirror of perceptual creation is to:
- see whatever you want to see.
- experience whatever you want to experience.
- create an experience of reality.
- create a reality to experience.
the wider reality is an infinite mirror that creates infinite experiences of reality.
We look at ‘the infinite’ with a limited focus that causes us to experience individuality. This makes reality a perceptual projection of consciousness in the sense that “life is but a dream.” An alternate perspective is to imagine us as self-navigating points of consciousness, each possessing a narrow focus on the one thing in existence (itself/infinite consciousness). We develop our perception of what we are by altering our focus (which is experienced as navigating reality) to give us an ever-changing vantage point on the mirror’s reflection of what we are.
movement in the meaning of your reality is your focus moving.
Within the singularity of individuality, the finiteness of our human life, and the absoluteness of physical science, we do not experience a choice in our perception of outer reality. To engage your physical senses is to experience the physical world as external and objective, believing our perception of it can be reliably determined to be true or false. The concept of ‘we determine what we see by how we look’ can feel jarringly different from the solid, objective, and absolute way we tend to view the world. Recognizing that we are choosing what we see destroys/reveals the illusion of an objective external reality. Because everyone’s experience of the wider reality is different, it is difficult to build a shared, conceptual language to explore how we are all connected through our experience of consciousness.
The human experience is a game that infinite consciousness plays with itself, where it suppresses its infinite multidirectional perception by looking through a pair of binoculars. It then pretends that what it sees through this attenuation of perception is separate from it and is the one physical reality in existence. This is a description of the mortal time-space experience.
Understanding that the wider reality does not operate reliably and objectively requires opening yourself to a wider level of perception where you perceive the whole of things without dividing them up. This allows you to see how we are all cyclic rather than linear, and is the key to seeing how we are eternal rather than mortal, and infinite rather than finite. It is to step outside the limiting scientific mindset, which only considers what it can reliably measure (with all else — such as consciousness and emotions — deemed to be of negligible value).
In embracing the reality of your consciousness, you will face the derisive looks of those who feel safer only existing within the perception of that which is tangible and consistent. Science mocks explorers of consciousness, psychology defines me as mentally ill, and religion has me pegged as a heretic who leads people into the blasphemous delusion they are “God.” Meeting your spirit is a path you must be willing to walk alone. You may not be alone, but you must be willing to walk alone. To learn to hold the hand of spirit/god is to learn to hold your own hand.
the exploration of consciousness is subjective. if you require the validation of others, your range of exploration will be limited.
Even though the mental containment of experience in science is highly limiting (a negative viewpoint), it can also be viewed as highly focusing (a positive viewpoint). Scientists are not making a mistake in closing their minds to the exploration of consciousness. They are each an embodiment of eternal consciousness that has chosen to experience this lifetime from a mostly physical perspective (at least until death, when they awaken from our collective dream of tangibility).
Opening multidimensional perception begins with letting go of the kind of linear logic that relies on the absolute. This includes the polarity of right and wrong. Human perception seeks to divide because it has become driven by what we fear more than by what we love. We judge what we perceive through our fears and then seek to control reality to avoid it (putting our fear in the driving seat). This is why fear-mongers lead politics. Political manifestos are typically a list of which fears will be prioritized. They then seek to magnify those fears to create support. Political advertising encourages fearing the opponent more than loving the candidate. Governments are far more successful at making us fearful than governing our collective services.
the interplay of fear and desire creates powerful choices that we experience as dilemmas.
A significant part of the human experience is being within the illusion that you are choosing between options that are seen to be better or worse than each other (with value applied to making the “right” choice). This is a cornerstone of the human experience because of how we designed it to be dualistic. We either free or further compound our limited, fear-based beliefs through our choices. Free yourself by resolving your polarized, judgmental beliefs (which are emotionally charged whenever we feel right/righteous/superior through them) by becoming conscious of the fear behind them.
question all unquestioned fears, especially those promoted by those seeking power.
Although we may see the dilemmas presented by our choices as challenging to resolve, human dilemmas are a purposeful focusing of perception on the freedom of our will. This is the intense focus of infinite consciousness on our freedom to choose … which is our freedom to be … which is our freedom to create. You are an expression of infinite freedom.
The opening of our perception to the wider reality is experienced as the transformation of our dualistic perception (which seeks to divide) into multidimensional perception (which births through the knowing we are all connected/whole/one). This is to no longer judge what you perceive through the polarity of “Which option is better, and which is worse? I am scared of making the wrong choice. I hope to make the right choice.” Instead, the wider perspective opens you to, “There is value in experiencing each and every option in this choice. Every option is valuable and presents me with a different flavor of how I can experience life. With all options possessing value, I choose from my feeling of resonance which flavor I would like to experience next (knowing all unchosen options remain available).”
Dualistic perception is based on limited options of differing values, while multidimensional perception is based on infinite options of equal value. Duality is a biased focusing of multidimensional perception. The bias is created by making some information unknown and then emotionally projecting a fear-based assumption onto that unknown.
we create prejudice to justify the divisive and exclusionary actions we take to alleviate our fear.
Awakening to your spirit radically changes your view of reality because it shifts you from being contained within a reality to experiencing that reality as a choice which flows from your freedom to experience a self-selected focus on the infinite. Dualistic thinking says, “My choices led me here.” Infinite thinking says, “The reality before me is my choice. It is the perfect expression of what I want. I am the direct experience of my external reality being the manifestation of my will. I am the creator of my reality.”
Because all realities are an illusion, to know yourself as the creator of your reality is to know yourself as the creator of your perception. Free your perception by transforming your fear-based beliefs (charged polarities that dominate your perception) and, consequently, the web of self-chosen meaning you live within. Do not fear discovering you are creating your own experience. It is a wonder-filled game to hide our creatorship from ourselves through the mortal experience. The Earth is a playground for ‘being real.’ We did not create ‘all this’ to escape a problem. You do not need to fear remembering the wider reality. It is fun to remember. It is fun to awaken. It is challenging to awaken. It is fun to challenge ourselves.
question — why is suffering a part of reality?
answer — the eternally unchallenged loves temporary challenges.
Physicality and objectivity are illusions. The meaning we live within:
- is what forms our experience of both a self and our reality.
- is not based on understanding some solid, external, objective reality.
- does not arise from objective knowledge of a fixed external world.
- arises from the knowledge we align ourselves with.
We are not contained by reality in the way we think we are. We are not here due to a choice made in the past. The reality and self we experience arises from our choice of perspective. Every element of our reality is a choice we are making in the moment. There is no past or future in it (except for that which we choose to make alive in the present). To be awake at the level of your spirit’s perception is to know there is no force opposing, trapping, limiting, pressuring, or resisting you — except yourself.
Being righteous is to deny we are all equal expressions of the one eternal ocean of consciousness. The knowledge we align with is a choice rather than the description of something absolute, right, or correct. The heart of spiritual exploration is the realization that our spiritual beliefs are a choice with which we are shaping our experience of self. Knowledge alone cannot awaken anyone. You have to directly experience the wider reality to believe it exists. This is to experience your spirit. Your spirit and the wider reality are a single connected ocean of consciousness. Someone awake to their spirit knows ‘the truth’ to be a choice … a free choice from which a self and a reality arise.
No spiritual belief is any more or less correct than any other. Their significance lies in how they alter your perception and, as a result, your experience of self and reality. There can be no ‘correct’ description of the wider reality of consciousness … of God … of the Tao … of Nirvana … of enlightenment that conveys what they are because they are each everything. To look into your eternal consciousness is to look into the infinite. To say you are infinite is to say you are everything in existence, including all that religion points to as “God” and “the Devil”.
The intention of my writing is not just about knowledge (although an expansive repository of perspectives has been created). It is about leading the reader to repeatedly taste their spirit/the wider reality directly through insightful moments of revelation. My words do not describe some absolute, transcendent state of reality. They describe a belief system that describes a perceptual avenue through which you can directly experience the wider reality of your spirit.
you are creating ‘the self’ you are discovering.
The human experience is founded on an illusion. You can happily remain within that illusion, enjoying all it offers while becoming aware of the wider context within which your human experience occurs. Does this remind you of a movie? “You take the blue pill — the story ends, you wake up in bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill — you stay in wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.” — The Matrix.
The wider reality cannot be described in words because it is a mirror in which you see your wider self. This is to say that when you look into the infinite, you will always see more of yourself. You see yourself in it because it is an infinite web of probabilities containing every possible experience. To face infinite possibilities from within a focus is to have to choose. To have to choose is to have to define yourself. It is to step into the definition that forms your mortality. To choose is to define yourself further and is experienced as further seeing yourself. This transforms your experience of reality by further defining what reality is.
The human experience is a mirror through which we meet the version of ourselves that arises from the choices we make when meeting the incredible tapestry of meaning on Earth. This is a journey of coming to ever further know yourself by experiencing choices within a reality based on limitation.
Life unfolds through the beliefs you choose to align with. These are presented through the unfolding experience of being human. Choosing moves you forward through time, with each choice being like a falling domino touching/initiating the next.
To understand reality as a reflection is to better understand how it cannot be described in words or absolute truth. I cannot tell you what you will see in the mirror by describing what I see. I can only use my experience as an example and tell you to expect to see yourself. Awakening is about seeing the mirror. This is why seeing through the illusion does not destroy it. When a child becomes aware that what they see in the mirror is a reflection (and not another child), what they ‘physically’ see does not change — only their interpretation of it changes. Change your reality by changing how you perceive it — not by trying to change it externally.
You will need more than an open-mind to perceive the wider reality. You will need to be open to change. Being open to change is something you have to metaphorically ‘step through.’ You have to be willing to change where you are standing. And that is to change the foundation of how you understand yourself.
you must be willing to change what you know yourself to be.
This is the deeper understanding of what an open-mind is. It cannot just be about being open to considering something. It is about being open to being changed by it. If you are willing to change, look into the infinite consciousness within, as you will always find more of yourself through the infinite forms of creation.
My words are not a solution. Knowledge cannot be the solution. My words are an invitation to discover your solution … your answer … your joy … your passion … an experience of love. You already contain everything you seek. I remind us of that because no one needs to be reminded more than me. I created the deep alienation that created the question that sought the answer that is this book I now deliver.
To be a reminder is to need to be reminded. To be a messenger is to choose to need to hear the message you wish to deliver. All I know for sure is that the words in this book are what I created my life to tell me.
i am a messenger.
this is my message.
Additional Commentary:
We are each the messenger of our Self.
We are each a message — equally a message to ourselves and a message to the world.
Do not fight your message. Do not fight what you are.
Be what you are to hear your message.
Hear your message to hear the voice of your spirit.
To hear your spirit is to unify with your spirit, which is to collapse the illusion of perceptual separation that creates this world.
You are a message. Be a messenger. Deliver your message.
