Why we chose duality: The Earth is a full-on 50-50 reality.
Balancing on the edge: how our polarized perception creates spiritual growth.
“When we talk about polarity, we often talk about this positive and negative charge, but there’s another way to understand our dualistic perception: we can only ever see half of something.”
Imagine a statue in the middle of a tranquil pool, surrounded by observers standing at various points around its circumference. Each observer, positioned uniquely, sees only half of the statue — one side illuminated by their gaze, the other perpetually hidden.
This is not merely an analogy; it is the essence of human perception. The part of reality you do not see is not lost or nonexistent; it is simply unseen because the focus of your conscious awareness determines your experience. You do not recognize what you are not looking at. This is not a failing; it is the nature of perception itself.
The nature of perception is dualistic by design.
We do not merely experience reality; we divide it, interpret it, and create meaning from our focus. The human experience is a journey through contrast, where we stand in the presence of only half of what exists at any given moment. We believe we completely see reality, but we only ever see reality through our uniquely limited perspective … our embodied vantage point.
Do not seek to evolve beyond your dualistic perception because you gave yourself dualistic perception to experience it.
You do not evolve beyond duality; you evolve within it.
There is no inherent moral value to any position; no particular vantage point is inherently right or wrong, better or worse. Every individual is inherently — but equally — limited, able to perceive only what directly faces them; however, the benefit is that this makes their perspective valuable because it is unique.
- Every person’s perspective contains a unique piece of the collective puzzle.
- Every person is equally necessary.
